About Me

My name is Bhumi Pathak. I’m a 52-year-old South Asian woman, mom to two boys (ages 20 and 15), and have been married for 23 years. I live just outside of Nashville in the southern suburb of Brentwood. I was diagnosed with ALS in December 2024, and every day since has been a learning experience—from figuring out social security benefits to managing new and progressing symptoms.

 

While the support groups currently available are wonderful, I’ve often found myself as the only woman—or woman of color—in the room. This group is born from a desire to create a community where we see and support each other in ways only we can truly understand.
